Business Sales Specialist
Murray Brown has been practicing in WA as a full-time hospitality and general business broker, since 1992. During this period, he has sold over 300 businesses, ranging in price between $70,000 (a western suburbs settlement agency) and $8,900,000 (The Dunsborough Tavern). In addition, he has supplied over 500 Market Appraisals and approximately 50 Business Valuations.
Murray also regularly consults to a wide variety of clients (private, private corporate & public corporate, the WA government and state statutory authorities) on work as varied as market rent reviews, licensing court matters, formation of market aggregators and the committee considering the tenders for the Rottnest Hotel (for the Rottnest Island Authority).
Murray’s areas of expertise include, but are not limited to, Liquor Stores, Hotels, Motels, and Resorts (freehold, leasehold and under Management Rights), Restaurants and Professional Practices, complementing the team at Platinum Business Sales.
Prior to this work, Murray practiced in a WA accounting partnership, dealing in tax, business development, insolvency and corporate recovery. Murray has also owned and operated Western Australia’s largest stocktaking and asset valuation business during the 1980’s, he was also a partner in a hospitality management consultancy and was the operating partner in three Perth retail businesses (two liquor stores and a tavern).
Murray has lectured in business valuation methodology to the Western Australian branch of the C.P.A Society and at the Real Estate Institute of Western Australia (REIWA), in addition to undergraduate Bachelor of Business students at Curtin University and West Coast Property Training.
